The Journey to Self through SoulCollage®

The Ego, Jung tells us, is that part of the pyche that we think of as 'I'. Our conscious intelligence. Our everyday brain that thinks, plans and runs the show of our day-to-day life. The Self, as Jung defined it, is a greater entity, which includes the Ego but also incorporates the Personal and Collective Unconscious. Dreams and intuitions come from the Self. The archetypes of the unconscious dwell there. It is, Jung believed, the sphere of the Soul ~~Steven Pressfield. 'The War of Art'

"I would love to live like a river flows,
 carried by the surprise
 of its own unfolding".

 ~ ~John O'Donohue

ABOUT JO

I am not a teacher, only a fellow traveller of whom you asked the way. ~~George Bernard Shaw

I am a late-blooming collage and mixed-media artist  who has had previous life experiences as a paediatric nurse and environmental educator, among others. I serendipitously discovered the magic of SoulCollage® after taking a 'leap of faith' and retiring from my job in 2007 and knew immediately that this process of intuitively using found images to collage the parts of my Soul/Self, and dialoguing with the cards to access my own inner wisdom, was something very profound and powerful.  The catalysts for my 'leap of faith' were this quote from a poem by Mary Oliver: "What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?",and this one from the 14th century Sufi poet, Rumi: "Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground." I've been making SoulCollage® cards since 2007 and trained in 2010 as a facilitator with Karen Mann, Australia/NZ's only SoulCollage® Facilitator trainer.

I'm somewhat amazed at the course my life has taken since I discovered this process. SoulCollage® is like that - it finds you, and then your life starts to flow in amazing and unimagined and interesting ways, and you are never the same again!

ABOUT MY WORKSHOPS

I offer introductory workshops, as well as regular card-making sessions in Brisbane, Australia, and other areas, from southeast Queensland to northern NSW. I'm especially interested in working to educate professionals in the psychology / counselling / art therapy / health / education / coaching and other caring professions about the benefits of using SoulCollage® in their work, in 2012 travelling to Cairns in north Queensland to co-facilitate, with Dr. Greta Galloway from Alan Webster Consultancies, a two-day training event for health professionals entitled, 'Processing Trauma through SoulCollage®'. Recently, I have been excited by the possibilities of MeCard4Kids in which the SoulCollage® process has been specially adapted for use with children by parents, teachers and others working with them.
